Position Overview:
The Afterschool Manager provides leadership, direction, and oversight for LaAmistad’s Afterschool Program and Anímate Summer Academy. This role works closely with staff, students, families, and community partners to ensure a high-quality, engaging, and outcomes-driven program experience.
The Manager is responsible for program implementation, team leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement aligned with LaAmistad’s mission and values.
What You Will Do:
Program Leadership:
- Create and maintain a learning environment that supports student growth and success.
- Analyze student achievement and program data to drive improvements.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement high-quality programming.
- Lead ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, manage, and supervise staff while fostering a strong and positive team culture.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings and set clear expectations.
- Conduct quarterly check-ins and annual performance evaluations.
- Support staff development through coaching and training opportunities.
Operations and Program Management:
- Oversee daily operations across multiple afterschool locations in Metro Atlanta.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure program quality and compliance.
- Manage logistics including supplies, scheduling, and coordination.
- Monitor program budgets and support financial accountability.
- Identify and resolve operational issues proactively.
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, schools, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ensure consistent and effective two-way communication.
- Lead student recruitment and enrollment in partnership with schools.
Student Experience:
- Ensure a safe, structured, and joyful environment for all students.
- Support programming that meets the needs of diverse learners and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff by responding to questions and concerns.
- Identify staff and volunteer training needs and implement plans to meet them.
- Ensure program alignment with LaAmistad standards and expectations.
- Support organizational initiatives and complete additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education or a related field.
- At least 3 years of successful teaching or leadership experience.
- Prior administrative or supervisory experience required.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Work Environment:
This role requires an active in-person presence across program sites. Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Traveling regularly to locations throughout Metro Atlanta.
- Standing, walking, and moving between sites as needed.
- Lifting and carrying materials up to 30 pounds.
- Supporting a fast-paced, dynamic program environment.
